**** All guest editor positions for 2021 have been filled, new roles will be advertised in autumn 2021 ****

Alluvium is an open access, BACLS affiliated scholarly journal which is dedicated to twenty-first literary criticism. We are run by postgraduates, and we primarily publish academic articles of approximately 2000 words, as well as interviews and book reviews. Our contributors range from postgraduates and early career researchers to independent scholars and established academics.

The role of guest editor may include:

  • Commissioning content, selecting articles from the abstracts submitted, and crafting the Call for Submissions for special issues
  • Liaising with authors when articles are submitted and working on any revisions necessary to publish the articles to a high standard
  • Writing or assisting with the issue’s editorial
  • Copy-editing and proof-reading
  •  Working with submissions and edits on tight deadlines

Guest editors are asked to work on at least one issue per year, alongside one or two co-editors, and will receive support and advice from the managing editors.

The role will allow editors to gain experience working with an open access academic journal, to curate special issues based on research expertise, and to connect with other researchers. Previous guest editors have gone on to work on a variety of journals, and have been elected as managing editors of Alluvium.

Expressions of interest should be sent to editorial@alluvium-journal.org. Please include details about any relevant previous experience and details on your own research and teaching interests (max. 300 words).

Please also specify if you would like to work on a general or a special issue. We would also welcome expressions of collective interest from two or three academics to guest edit a special issue.

As a publication we are very keen to foster and amplify a diverse range of contributors and expertise across the fields of contemporary literary criticism.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the managing editors at editorial@alluvium-journal.org
